In 2007 the “artiste extraordinaire” Ernesto Tomasini and fellow Italian musician Fabrizio Modonese Palumbo [a.k.a. ( r ) and member of cult band Larsen and Blind Cave Salamander] released the album "Canes Venatici" for the US label Blossoming Noise sporting a picture by award winning photographer Giulia Caira on the front cover.
The following year, along with Evor Ameisie (founding member of NG/Northgate and Camerata Mediolanense) and Paul Beauchamp (of Blind Cave Salamander), they took a live version of the album to several European music/theatre/film festivals, historical locations and GLBT events.
At the end of 2010 the Italian experimental label Chew-Z released "The Hunting Dogs of Boötes the Herdsman”, a live and revised version of “Canes Venatici” featuring remixes by Khan, Andrew Liles and 9cento9.
"Messier Objects" is the first album composed, recorded and released by Ernesto Tomasini, Fabrizio Modonese Palumbo, Paul Beauchamp and Evor Ameisie under the band moniker Almagest!, named after Ptolemy's 2nd-Century mathematical and astronomical treatise on the apparent motions of the stars and planetary paths but with an added final exclamation mark (just like Neu!, John Foxx's Ultravox! and Robert Wise's "Star!").
"Messier Objects" (another reference to the misteries of cosmos) will be released by the Texas-based label Tourette Records in spring 2013 with an original cover artwork by London artist Dan Hillier.
